Nourishing stomach to produce fluid; nourishing yin to clear away heat. Clearing away heat; moistening lung to stop cough.
Thirst and dryness of the tongue; debility and fever during convalescence; retching. Cough, asthma, tuberculosis, pleurisy, thirst due to deficiency of body fluid.
Top grades are golden-yellow, lustrous, soft; sticky when chewed. No specific standard.

According to the C.P., the stems of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. and D. fimbriatum Hook. var. oculatum Hook. are also used for the same medicinal purposes as Shi Hu. The processed product of Shi Hu (Herba Dendrobii Chr ysanthi) is called “Feng Dou” (楓斗); it is typically confused with You Gua Shi Hu (Herba Ephemeranthae Fimbriatae). These herbs should be differentiated before use.
