	Root and rhizome of Sophora tonkinensis Gagnep. (Fabaceae/ Leguminosae).
	Purging fire to remove toxins; soothing throat to resolve swelling; relieving pain and killing parasites.
	Sore throat; early stage of lung cancer.
	Top grades are hard and thick, outer surface yellowish-brown; taste bitter.
