According to the C.P., the thallus of Ecklonia kurome Okam., which belongs to the family of Alaraceae, is also used for the same medicinal purposes as Kun Bu (Thallus Laminariae Thallus Eckloniae). Kun Bu is a common food in Hong Kong. Guang Kun Bu (Alga Ulvae Lactucae), which is listed in the Guangdong Zhong Yao Zhi, is a customarily used herb in the Guangdong region.
