1 Rhizome pieces flattened and cylindrical, slightly cur ved; less branched; 1-1.5cm in diameter.

2 Outer surface greyish-brown or brown; marked with distinct annular nodes, length of internodes varies between 0.2-1.5cm.

3 Hard; transverse section pale brown.

Rhizoma Acori Calami

	Rhizome of Acorus calamus L. (Araceae).
	Removing phlegm; invigorating spleen; eliminating dampness.
	Anti-inflammation; deficient yang of stomach, indigestion, stagnated food, diphtheria and anthracnose.
	Top grades are thick, outer surface yellowish-white.
