Gu Jing Zhu (Flos Eriocauli Sexangularis) is the herb customarily used as Gu Jing Cao (Flos Eriocauli) in certain regions. The plant source of Gu Jing Zhu is Eriocaulon sexangulare L. which is a species of the same genus as Gu Jing Cao; the two herbs share similar functions and are often mixed up in Hong Kong and South China. Further study is needed to distinguish their chemical ingredients, clinical applications and means of quality control. However, according to the literature, the functions of these two herbs are the same.
