The confusion of Mi Meng Hua (Flos Buddlejae) with other herb has occurred for a long time. It is listed in the C.P. and has another name called “Lao Meng Hua” (老蒙花). In contrast, Jie Xiang Hua (Flos Edgewor thiae Chrysanthae) is customarily called “Xin Meng Hua” (新蒙花) and is listed in the Zhong Hua Ben Cao. The sources of these herbs are totally different and careful differentiation should be made during use. Further study is needed to determine and distinguish their chemical ingredients and clinical functions.
